“Tiese has got me hooked on Puerto Rico!
Somehow, it’s found it’s way to the top of my destinations list.
Amazing beaches to visit and…Wait, I wouldn’t want to spill.
Have a read and let me know what you think!”
Earlier this year, my friend and I packed our bags and boarded an American Airlines plane headed for San Juan, Puerto Rico
We had actually planned this trip about a year in advance, and we knew we wanted to visit somewhere in the Caribbean.
After much back and forth, Puerto Rico won! (over Jamaica and Barbados if I might add).
That’s not to say I won’t be visiting these places in the near future though.
Once we got to our hotel (Ciqala Luxury Suites) in San Juan, I immediately felt like the 5 -day vacation was going to be too short.
The staff was warm and welcoming and we were directed to the terrace for the hotel’s happy hour.
This included a free cocktail and tapas (appetizers).
You will always find me where there are free food and drinks.
Interestingly enough, the hotel was not very pricey as the wi-fi and breakfast were also included in the rate.
If you don’t mind staying in a residential area, you should check them out here.
When you’re all settled in, you’re going to want to see places and do things.
This is where Puerto Rico will not disappoint you!
Things To Do!
I’ve listed here a few “must do’s” when in Puerto Rico, hopefully, the pictures will give an even better feel 🙂
Old San Juan:
You’ll probably see this city mentioned in any travel post about Puerto Rico. That’s not an accident. Old San Juan is filled with beautiful buildings, rich history and myriad Caribbean cuisine. The historical sites (El Morro & La Fortaleza) are a must-see! My only regret is taking only one day out of our 5-day trip to explore this amazing city.
Puerto Rico is home to some of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen! Sky blue water, white sand beaches and piña coladas at every turn (yum!) If you’re a beach lover like myself, whip out a note pad and take down the names of these beaches 😉
The trip to El Yunque was probably my favourite thing we did in Puerto Rico. I genuinely did not want to leave. When you walk in, you’re met with a stunning landscape of mountains, and surrounded by lush greenery and clear pools of water. Whether you choose to hike in the rainforest, swim in the natural pools or just picnic by a waterfall, El Yunque is a must-visit for any traveler.
In the interest of keeping this write up short, I’m going to round up here.
Whether you visit Puerto Rico for 1 day or 3, you’re sure to have an amazing experience.
TripAdvisor was a useful guide for us as well as advice from the locals in San Juan.
Don’t be shy to ask around for things to do and places to go because the locals are more than willing to help!
I hope I got at least one of you thinking about planning a trip to this amazing island.
I know I will definitely be going back.
Thank you for reading!
So, tell me do you feel like seeing Puerto Rico too?
